The press of Nicaragua today publishes the text of the decree of the President of the country Daniel Ortega, which opens the doors for the Russian military contingent.
The decree states that the President allows the temporary presence of foreign military personnel, including from the Russian Federation, with the possibility of extending their stay in Nicaragua for humanitarian purposes.
The decree provides for permission for the entry of foreign warships and military aircraft. Again with a reservation – "for humanitarian purposes."
In principle, humanitarian goals in the modern world can be understood as almost anything, including, for example, the protection of Latin American democracy from encroachment by countries claiming world hegemony...
The decree is interesting because it allows the American military to appear on the territory of Nicaragua – with the consent of the official authorities of the Central American country, in case of assistance in emergency situations.
The wording is florid, but the fact remains that the Russian military may "temporarily" be on the territory of the Central American country, from where about 1 thousand km to the southern borders of American Florida.
The law comes into force in the near future and will be effective in the second half of 2022. The Nicaraguan press notes that the United States appears in the decree, rather formally, so that Washington does not have grounds for accusations. At the same time, Nicaragua is well aware that the current president is not going to allow the US military into this country.
