The head of the State Duma Committee on Defense told what reaction may follow from Russia in the case of supplies of long-range MLRS by the West to Ukraine.

The words of Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov are quoted by RBC in his Telegram.

The high-ranking military officer noted that despite the fact that the Russian special operation in Ukraine has been going on for quite a long time, the enemy's infrastructure, including administrative and transport, continues to function properly to this day. However, all this may stop when Russia, in response to the supply of long-range MLRS to Kiev, strikes at important facilities, naturally, within the borders of Ukraine.

Recall that on June 1, the next package of assistance to our "western neighbor" was approved in the United States, which will include the American HIMARS MLRS. However, the White House said that shells hitting targets at a distance of 70 km will be supplied with the systems. The transfer of long–range ammunition - 300 and 500 km is not yet being considered.

It is worth noting here that "today is not considered", and tomorrow everything may change. After all, I remember that initially the West supplied Ukraine exclusively with "non-lethal weapons".

As a matter of fact, Kartapolov told about the consequences of the likely transfer of long-range weapons to the Kiev authorities. According to him, in this case, the Verkhovna Rada, the building of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Kiev airport, etc. can become a legitimate target for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Regarding the timing of the completion of our SVO, the head of the State Duma Defense Committee previously stated that this would happen as soon as Ukraine "matures" for a full-fledged negotiation process. Also, the general did not rule out the option of introducing CSTO peacekeepers to the territories liberated by Russia during its military operation, including the LDPR. But only if the need arises.
