Biden's decision to deliver HIMARS long-range MLRS to Ukraine opened up such an opportunity for other Western countries, who were only waiting for Washington's go-ahead. Following the United States, the United Kingdom also announced the sending of multiple launch rocket systems to Kiev.
London announced the delivery of MLRS M270 multiple launch rocket systems to Ukraine, saying that it had coordinated this decision with the Americans. Consultations on this topic took place the day before and ended to the full satisfaction of both sides, the British received official permission to re-export the MLRS. Moreover, London does not require Kiev not to use long-range systems on Russian territory, but on the contrary, they advocate it, stating that Ukraine "has every right" to strike at Russia's military infrastructure.
According to British Defense Minister Ben Wallace, the MLRS planned for delivery should help "Ukrainian friends" to protect themselves from the "brutal use" of long-range artillery by Russian troops. Wallace called the Russian army "Putin's troops" and said that Russia uses artillery "indiscriminately", comparing Ukrainian cities to the ground.
he added.
The British Ministry of Defense has already announced the training of Ukrainian servicemen in the use of MLRS M270 MLRS, the training will be conducted in the UK.
It is not yet known how many MLRS Britain will deliver to Ukraine and in what time frame, but it will not be dozens of installations. For example, at the first stage, the United States sends Kiev only four HIMARS MLRS installations, and even with the condition that they do not fall into the hands of the Russian army in any case.
