Hundreds of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine were destroyed by precision weapons shortly after their arrival at the places where they were undergoing additional training. This was announced on Thursday, June 2, by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
However, most of the mercenaries were destroyed in the combat zone due to the low level of training and lack of real combat experience. He explained that the commanders of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) do not spare foreigners, as they want to reduce the losses of their servicemen.
"Captured mercenaries tell during interrogations that they are sacrificed in the first place. <...> The Kiev regime's urgent attempts to guarantee legal protection to mercenaries, including them in the list of military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the National Guard, or giving them fresh passports of Ukrainian citizens, will not save any of them," Konashenkov said.
He stressed that many mercenaries want to leave the territory of Ukraine, but the Kiev regime in every way prevents them from leaving abroad.
To date, the total number of mercenaries in Ukraine has almost halved from 6.6 to 3.5 thousand people, the Major General noted.
On May 28, The Washington Post reported that foreign mercenaries in Ukraine complain about poor uniforms and lack of weapons. Many of them are looking for ways to leave the country and return home.
On May 24, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, mostly military advisers and employees of private military companies are sent to the country. Previously, the department noted that foreign mercenaries who arrived in Ukraine to participate in hostilities are not combatants and they are waiting for a long time in prison.
Prior to that, on April 27, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that the Ukrainian armed formations include mercenaries from more than 50 countries of the world.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
