The successes of recent days in the capture by Russian troops of key defense nodes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbas are largely due to the large-scale use of artillery before the assault on fortified enemy positions.

As noted in the publication Pucará Defensa, the massive concentration of artillery systems by the command of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on certain sections of the front allows you to crack the perimeters of the defense of the Armed Forces even before the transition to the attack of armored vehicles and infantry. The most vulnerable to artillery fire are stationary lines of defense – networks of trenches, field fortifications, fortifications in villages and towns and in their vicinity.

On May 24 and 25, the Russians shelled the AFU positions in the Estuary with all possible aircraft, artillery, MLRS and heavy mortars. The bombing continued for several hours and led to heavy losses and destruction of the defense, after which the units of the Russian Armed Forces launched a pincer attack (from the north and from the south, through the railway station). In one battalion of the 79th Airmobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine alone, more than 100 people were killed, and 200-300 survivors were too shocked and depressed to fight

- it is indicated in the foreign press, explaining that the city was eventually taken by the forces of two BTGs, including with the participation of special forces of the 24th brigade.

After the success in the Red Estuary, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation repeated the tactics of massive strikes on the positions of the AFU and the Terbats in Severodonetsk. According to the author, on May 27, after several hours of intense artillery fire and air strikes ("on that day, the Su-25 VKS flew in flocks over the whole city"), Russian troops attacked from four directions.

Chechens from Rosgvardiya achieved the greatest success this time: they managed to penetrate into the northern part of the city and get to the Mir hotel near the bus station.

- the author writes in the foreign press.

Recall that today more than 70 percent of the territory of Severodonetsk is under the control of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People's Militia of the LPR.
