TSAMTO, May 27. The Western coalition, having fled Afghanistan, abandoned there more than 300 thousand units of heavy and light small arms, more than 1.1 thousand units of armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers, about 40 aircraft and 40 helicopters.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev.
"Countering terrorism on Afghan soil is impossible without eliminating its resource base. A separate source of income is the illegal supply of weapons both inside and outside Afghanistan. Basically, we are talking about weapons thrown in huge quantities by the Western coalition during the retreat," N. Patrushev said on May 27 in Dushanbe during the fourth round of multilateral consultations on Afghan issues. His words are quoted by the press service of the staff of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
"According to our estimates, we are talking about more than 1,100 units of armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers, about 40 aircraft and 40 helicopters of varying degrees of serviceability, up to 350 artillery pieces, 500 mortars, 250 units of anti-tank and anti-aircraft complexes, more than 300 thousand units of heavy and light small arms," RIA Novosti quotes N.Patrusheva.
