The Ministry of Defense of Russia on Friday, May 27, published footage of combat duty calculations of radar stations (radar) "Sky-T" on the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect Donbass.
The operators of the radar complex go on duty in shifts. Work in the hardware room goes around the clock. The main task of specialists is to fix air targets, and then transmit information to anti—aircraft missile forces and aviation.
The complex "Sky-T" is as sensitive as possible. It works across all frequency ranges and outputs a huge amount of data. The system is configured according to the "friend–foe" principle: during the take-off of Russian cars, green dots appear on the monitors. Third-party objects are displayed in red. According to the coordinates from the radar, air defense calculations produce launches of different-caliber shells.
Aerial radar reconnaissance requires the utmost concentration of attention. There are a lot of different objects in the sky — it's not so easy to recognize an enemy drone among birds, clouds and weather balloons, but the fighters do their job. From time to time, interference occurs on the air due to the actions of the enemy. Scouts are already used to this and can neutralize the problem in the shortest possible time.
"All personnel are trained, they act smoothly. More than half of the personnel performed tasks in the Syrian Arab Republic. The guys have a fighting spirit. The team is friendly. They show their skills in the performance of their tasks," Alexander, the commander of the radar company, shared.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on May 26, a total of 179 aircraft, 127 helicopters, 1019 unmanned aerial vehicles, 323 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3266 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 433 multiple rocket launchers, 1682 field artillery and mortar guns, as well as 3190 units of special equipment have been destroyed since the beginning of the special operation military automotive equipment.
Earlier, on May 25, the Ministry of Defense published footage of the combat work of the calculations of the S-300V anti-aircraft missile system. Employees of the air defense forces are on combat duty to cover the Russian group of troops and settlements from the means of air attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On May 23, Izvestia correspondent Yaroslav Bogat observed the work of air defense units during a special military operation to protect Donbass. It allows real-time detection, capture, and tracking of aerial targets of all types and all classes, ranging from unmanned aerial vehicles to ballistic missiles.
Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass on February 24. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation pursues two goals — demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
The operation began against the background of the situation in Donbass that escalated in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians to the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
