Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the Russian government to increase payments to Russian servicemen participating in a special operation to protect Donbass.
"The corresponding payments of those who are abroad need to be increased, because everything is equated to the exchange rate, the dollar in this case. And the dollar, as you know, is shrinking, and the ruble is strengthening. Therefore, it is necessary to recalculate and implement these payments accordingly," he said.
In addition, the President instructed to support military families.
He also noted that all participants of the special operation to protect Donbass are heroes, and promised state awards to the fighters risking their lives.
"These are people who risk their health and lives for the sake of people, children of Donbass, for the sake of Russia. They're all heroes. Everyone puts their lives in mortal danger, goes to it consciously, and they should be treated exactly like heroes," the Russian leader stressed.
On April 30, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on providing additional social guarantees to people sent to Donbass. So, a payment of 5 million rubles will be sent to the family in the event of the death of a military man. The same payment is provided in case of death before the expiration of one year from the date of return to the territory of the Russian Federation, which occurred as a result of injury or illness received while performing tasks. In addition, a payment in the amount of Z million rubles will be sent to persons who were injured as part of a special operation.
Russia continues the special operation to protect Donbass, which Putin announced on February 24. The situation in the region worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Since 2014, the Ukrainian authorities have been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup in Ukraine.
