MOSCOW, May 20 - RIA Novosti. Roselectronics Holding (part of Rostec) has created a portable multifunctional radar station (radar) to protect critical infrastructure facilities, the Rostec press service reported .
"The device can detect small-sized drones at a distance of more than 1000 m, including at ultra-low altitudes. The radar was created on a domestic element base, weighs only 5 kg and can be used as a wearable device," the state corporation reported.
The station was developed at the Rybinsk Instrument-making Plant. The station detects even inconspicuous copters in the hover mode by rotating the screws. Radar can also be used to detect objects on the ground. For example, a car radar sees at a distance of more than 10 km.
"The main task of the new radar station is to search for low–flying small-sized air targets and other threats, for example, ground-based robotic complexes. The radar can simultaneously track up to 32 targets, as well as work together with other radar monitoring systems. To date, the station has already passed preliminary tests," said Andrey Komogortsev, General Director of RZP.
The new development will complement the line of anti-UAVS developed by Rostec enterprises. Among them are the multifunctional mobile complex "Rat" with a laser destruction system, the anti–civilian drone complex "Ataka-DBS" and electromagnetic rifles.
