The Office of the Special Inspector General for the Reconstruction of Afghanistan (SIGAR, an American government organization), published a document stating the helplessness of the Kabul leadership before the loss of power that occurred last summer, making the Taliban movement (an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation) the new masters of the country. A report published in the United States named the reasons for the rapid surrender of the Afghan army to the Taliban.
This is reported by the American TV channel NBC News.
The report says that the Afghan armed forces collapsed due to low morale, military distrust of the command, as well as the cessation of American airstrikes.
The former head of the Joint Special Operations Command in Afghanistan told SIGAR that the number of US air strikes against the Taliban was reduced by 98 percent overnight. If in 2019 the United States conducted 7,423 bombings, in 2020 there were only 1,631. At the same time, almost half of them were committed before the United States signed a peace agreement with the Taliban in February 2020.
Other experts note that the reason for the distrust of the Afghan military in their command, which eventually led to their surrender to the radicals, was high corruption in the army leadership.

They claim that a significant part of the weapons and equipment supplied from the United States ended up on the "black market", then ending up in the hands of the Taliban. However, as a result, they became the owners of almost all the weapons received by the Afghan army from the Americans.
