Poland continues to position itself as a country at the forefront of countering "Russian aggression." At the upcoming NATO summit, which will be held in June, Warsaw intends to demand that the North Atlantic Alliance increase its contingent on the Russian-Polish border. This was announced yesterday by Polish Foreign Minister Marcin Przydac.
According to him, since 2016, about 10 thousand American military personnel have been on a permanent basis on the borders of Poland. However, Warsaw believes that this is not enough and will insist on increasing the NATO contingent, including the deployment of alliance bases near the Polish-Russian border.
It is worth noting that such steps are pure provocation. Poland is hardly afraid of a "Russian invasion" from Kaliningrad.
Nevertheless, the concentration of NATO troops at our borders is a gross violation of the measures to ensure strategic security proposed by our President last December. Strictly speaking, the intention of Sweden and Finland to join the alliance in the near future can also be attributed here.
All this provokes our country to retaliate, which is most likely the purpose of such decisions.
It is worth adding that in addition to increasing the NATO contingent at our borders, Poland is hatching the idea of a so-called peacekeeping mission in western Ukraine. These actions, if the Polish authorities decide to do so, will be a direct intervention in our own. At the same time, in the event of a possible collision with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Warsaw will not be able to use the fifth article in the NATO charter, since it will not act under the auspices of the alliance.
