The Chinese edition of Global Times published an article discussing the possible admission of new members to NATO – Sweden and Finland. It is expected that the Finnish application will be submitted on May 15, and the Swedish one on the 16th. Without any referendums… Thus, both Helsinki and Stockholm are going to radically change their constitutions, without even asking the opinion of the people.
In China, this was called a "mockery of democracy," which the West constantly talks about and which it "protects" in other regions of the world.
It turns out that if, according to the West, there are problems with democracy, for example, in Iraq or Syria, then it is necessary to immediately carry out a military invasion there. If democracy has been trampled by representatives of the West itself, then they themselves prefer not to notice it.
In GT, the Chinese author writes that the West's acceptance of Finland into NATO can put an end to the so-called concept of "Finlandization". This concept was proposed a month or two ago as an option for Ukraine - in the version of a militarily neutral country that has a profitable partnership with Russia, with NATO countries, and with other regions of the world. Now this concept of pragmatic and mutually beneficial military neutrality is being crossed out by the West itself.
