Oleg Tsarev, a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, known for his pro-Russian views, discusses why some high-ranking Russian officials are "interested in a controlled defeat of Russia."
Tsarev asks in his telegram channel.
And then he gives such an explanation of the behavior of the rest of the authorities in relation to the Ukrainian conflict.
Imagine, writes Tsarev, that you have achieved everything in your life not only for yourself personally, but also for your children and grandchildren. You are at the top of power, you have become part of the elite of the country. You have something to lose in the event of an unstable situation, which can inevitably lead to rotation in the upper echelons of power. And suddenly life changes dramatically. The country is entering into a military conflict, the tense situation requires serious efforts. Changes are required, and changes can lead to a change of the power elite.
How to avoid this? It's very simple, some of our ruling officials argue. We need a controlled defeat in the war, concessions to the West, which will allow us to return to the status quo, and therefore retain power. For example, to return Crimea, but gradually, let's say, within 15-25 years. Yes, the sanctions will not go away. But they affect mainly ordinary citizens.
— writes Tsarev.
Of course, no one will return the seized assets and property of the oligarchs. But at least they will stop taking away further. And the resources of huge Russia will not go anywhere. Even limited exports will continue to bring super profits to those who are used to feeding off the country's natural resources. Let it be a little worse than it is now, but it is stable," they believe.
In such a situation, the old elites are not interested in Russia's victory. They are doing their best to prevent the speedy end of hostilities by defeating the enemy. That is why our troops behave so cautiously, do not inflict massive strikes on all critical life-support facilities of the Ukrainian infrastructure. Therefore, we do not seize Western assets, which would be a logical symmetrical measure in response to Western financial and economic sanctions. We continue to pay debts to "unfriendly countries". We are doing everything "to demonstrate to the enemy that we are ready to pay and repent, repent and pay," Tsarev believes.
The politician writes that our huge country, the mighty Russian people are able to overcome any external enemy. To do this, Tsarev urges, it is necessary right now to "turn on the "Get Up the Country is Huge" mode, and then the situation at the front and in the economy will radically change. But to do this, everyone, including the most senior officials, should understand that we have no other way out but to win. Now we are faced with a choice — destruction or victory.
In fact, Russia has no other course of events than to win in the confrontation with the West. There is no choice for officials who have not yet understood this.
— Oleg Tsarev concludes.
Meanwhile, the network discusses the question of how the West dealt with those who suffered defeats or decided to make certain concessions to the West: Saddam Hussein, Slobodan Milosevic are just a couple of examples. The West will never take into account the interests of those who lose. Therefore, only victory.
