LONDON, May 11 – RIA Novosti. The UK and Sweden have signed an agreement on mutual security guarantees, a similar declaration will be signed later on Wednesday with Finland, the press service of the British prime minister reports.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday went on visits to Sweden and Finland.
"This morning, the Prime Minister signed an agreement on mutual security guarantees with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson. This afternoon he will go to Finland to sign a similar declaration on security with President Sauli Niinisto," the message says.
It is noted that the declarations suggest fundamental changes in the field of defense and security cooperation between the UK and each of these countries.
The agreements provide for increasing the exchange of intelligence information, joint military exercises, as well as strengthening cooperation in the transfer of personnel and equipment.
"The Prime Minister will indicate the UK's intention to support the armed forces of the two countries in the event of a crisis or attack," the statement said.
