The law on the so-called "lend-lease for Ukraine" was finally adopted, on Monday, US President Joe Biden put his signature on the document, thereby launching a mechanism for simplified arms supplies to Kiev. The signing of the law was reported in the press service of the White House.
The new lend-lease law provides for the transfer of military equipment and weapons for temporary use to Ukraine or Eastern European countries to increase defense capability against the background of the "invasion of Russia". The document was adopted specifically for Ukraine and is directed, first of all, against Russia. As previously reported, the first lend-lease deliveries will begin literally immediately, since equipment already located in Europe, in particular in Poland and Germany, will go to Ukraine, which will later be replaced by supplies from the United States.
In general, Biden was more proactive on Monday than usual, he not only signed the lend-lease law, but also demanded that the US Congress urgently approve the request sent by the administration for the allocation of an additional $33 billion in aid to Ukraine. As stated by "sleepy Joe", otherwise he will have no funds left to "save Ukrainian democracy."
The White House recalled that in 10 days Ukraine may be left without American military assistance, since Washington has already spent all previously allocated funds. According to Biden, he has already "almost exhausted resources," but he is confident that congressmen will urgently approve a new allocation of funds. In the Congress itself, the initiative of the White House is treated positively and can approve even a large sum for Kiev, not 33, but 40 billion dollars.
As previously reported, Washington planned to allocate 33 billion dollars to Ukraine for general assistance, of which 15.5 billion will go to weapons, and the rest to economic and humanitarian aid.
