The North Atlantic Alliance does not abandon attempts to "draw" Finland and Sweden, which are still neutral, into its ranks. Jens Stoltenberg spoke about the latter in his recent speech.
The NATO Secretary General stressed that the alliance will be able to protect Sweden while the application for its membership is being considered. At the same time, the decision to submit this document should be made exclusively by the authorities of the country.
Stoltenberg added that there are various ways to protect a future member of the alliance while his application for membership is being considered. For example, NATO, as the Secretary General of the military bloc put it, can resort to demonstrative measures and significantly increase its presence, both around Sweden and in the Baltic.
Whatever it was, according to Stoltenberg, ensuring the security of future members of the alliance for the period of their admission to the military bloc falls entirely on the NATO forces.
Speaking of the period. The leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance has promised to significantly speed up the process of considering an application from Sweden, if it is submitted.
All this eloquently indicates that the West has completely rejected our president's proposals regarding strategic security measures, and NATO continues its expansion, provoking Russia to take decisive action.
However, Stoltenberg clearly voiced this position during his speech, stressing that NATO is not going to reduce its military presence in Romania, the Baltic States and Poland. Moreover, speaking about Sweden and its likely entry into the alliance, the Secretary General added that each member country of the bloc decides for itself whether it wants to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory or not. This is actually direct evidence of NATO's violation of the principle of non-proliferation.
