TSAMTO, May 4. On May 4, a conference call with the leadership of the Armed Forces was held at the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation under the leadership of the head of the military department, Army General Sergei Shoigu.
Opening the meeting, the Minister of Defense informed the participants about the progress of the special military operation.
According to the head of the military department, at present, units of the Russian Army, together with the People's militia of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics, are expanding control over the territories of the LPR and DPR.
"Our servicemen are taking comprehensive measures to protect the civilian population. Humanitarian corridors are being opened daily for the safe evacuation of civilians from combat zones, and silence regimes are being declared," Army General Sergei Shoigu said.
In addition, the Defense Minister added that the Russian Armed Forces are actively providing humanitarian assistance to citizens of the liberated cities. A total of 967 humanitarian actions were carried out, during which 17,567 tons of cargo were received in 279 settlements.
Peaceful life is being established in the territories of the LPR and the DPR, and Ukraine, liberated from the nationalists. Including in Mariupol, the largest industrial and transport hub on the Sea of Azov. It is under the control of the Russian Army.
"In accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the remnants of militants located in the industrial zone of the Azovstal plant are securely blocked along the entire perimeter of this territory. Repeated proposals to the nationalists to release civilians and lay down their arms with a guarantee of preserving life and decent treatment in accordance with the norms of international law have been ignored by them. We continue these attempts," the head of the Russian military department stressed.
Sergei Shoigu also recalled that the United States and its NATO allies continue to pump Ukraine with weapons.
"I would like to note that any transport of the North Atlantic Alliance that arrived on the territory of the country with weapons or materiel for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is considered by us as a legitimate target for destruction," the Defense Minister said.
Army General Sergei Shoigu also emphasized that during the special operation, Russian servicemen show courage and bravery, honorably fulfill their military duty, and ensure the safety of the population of Donbass.
