"We worked on enemy positions that specifically provoke fire. We managed to destroy the camera, which is a big plus, because basically the enemy uses electronic means of surveillance," the battalion commander said.
The battalion commander noted that the enemy's firing point was hit with the help of hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers (RPG) with the support of machine guns.
Earlier on Sunday, May 1, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire Regime (JCCC) said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to shell the territories previously liberated by the DPR forces. According to the latest data, as a result of the actions of the Ukrainian security forces, eight more people were injured. The total number of registered victims in the liberated territory of the DPR is 1,309 people, including 67 children.
On April 29, a correspondent of Izvestia showed footage from Makeyevka, which was shelled by the VFU on April 28. It was reported that one child was killed as a result of the shelling of Makeyevka by Ukrainian nationalists. In addition, 19 civilians, including four children, were injured.
On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation pursues two goals — demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
The operation began against the background of the situation in Donbass that escalated in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians to the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
