The United States is launching the so-called lend-lease program for Ukraine, under which it intends to supply Kiev with weapons with deferred payments. The relevant bill was approved by the House of Representatives of Congress yesterday.
The new program of military assistance to Kiev, called lend-lease in the United States by analogy with the Second World War, will work after Joe Biden signs the relevant bill. It was previously approved by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the US Congress. This document gives the American president additional powers to provide Ukraine with weapons and military equipment for temporary use "to protect against Russian aggression." The law comes into force 60 days after its signing.
As previously reported, within the framework of Lend-Lease, the United States intends to supply heavy weapons to Ukraine, primarily long-range anti-aircraft systems, something like the S-300. This is confirmed by the Pentagon. After the "meeting in Ramstein," the head of the military department, Lloyd Austin, said that the primary task of the United States is to supply long-range air defense systems to Ukraine.
- he declared.
Speaking about the timing of the delivery of anti-aircraft systems and other heavy weapons, Austin said that deliveries will be carried out in the "shortest possible time" in order to deliver this equipment to the Donbass faster. Priority will be given to long-range weapons, including air defense, as mentioned above.
Austin added.
Meanwhile, Jen Psaki said that President Biden had $250 million left at his disposal to help Ukraine.
