On April 25, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed footage of the Iskander operational and tactical missile systems during a special operation to protect Donbass.
Intelligence reported on the area in which the Armed Forces of Ukraine stored large stocks of weapons, equipment and ammunition to supply militants on the front line. After confirming the intelligence with technical means, the Iskanders enter the launch position and launch missiles, after which they move to new positions.
"Despite its size, this machine is highly passable, mobile, allows us to quickly change positions after completing the task, which increases the survivability of both the combat vehicle itself and the launcher calculation. My first launch was unforgettable. The car did not fail, it fulfilled its task according to its intended purpose," Mikhail, the head of the Iskander OTRC calculation, shared with journalists.
"The calculation is coordinated to automatism. At any time, the calculation acts confidently. Each calculation number clearly knows its task. The machine is highly accurate. According to the coordinates, it hits exactly the target," said Denis, deputy head of the calculation of the Iskander OTRC.
The Iskander is a high—precision weapon with a firing range of up to 500 kilometers. The warhead of the Iskander missile can destroy almost any target: enemy command posts, columns of equipment, air defense systems.
Both ballistic and cruise missiles are in the arsenal of the ITRC, which put false electronic interference on approach to the target and are practically invulnerable to enemy air defense systems. A cruise missile can go at ultra-low altitudes and bend around the terrain, it is impossible to detect it.
On April 23, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published a video recording of the destruction of ammunition depots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special operation in the Donbass. As a result of helicopter strikes, a tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, as well as a fortified AFU stronghold were destroyed.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in Ukraine and in the Donbas, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
