TSAMTO, April 20. The possibilities of supplying weapons to Ukraine from the reserves of the Bundeswehr are almost exhausted, the German authorities are working with the country's defense concerns on this issue.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after a telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden and the leaders of the Group of Seven countries and the EU.
"At first, we supplied Ukraine with weapons from our stocks. Now we have to admit that our capabilities have reached their limits. Therefore, we are creating a special fund so that our army, after many years of economy, will finally be well armed, and we are investing on a large scale in the capabilities of the Bundeswehr," he said.
The Chancellor noted that, in addition to strengthening the German army, the country's authorities also "made it possible for Ukraine to purchase military industry products in our country."
"We have asked the German defense industry to tell us what products can be delivered in the near future. Ukraine has made its choice from this list, and we will allocate the necessary financial resources," RIA Novosti quotes O. Scholz.
According to him, we are talking about anti-tank weapons, ammunition, air defense and those means that "can be used in artillery duels."
