MOSCOW, Apr 19 - RIA Novosti. The Russian Defense Ministry has published footage of the combat work of calculations and the launch of a missile of the Iskander operational-tactical complex at an object of the Ukrainian military infrastructure during the performance of tasks of a special military operation.
The Iskander complex refers to high-precision weapons with a firing range of up to 500 kilometers. The warhead of the missile can destroy almost any target: enemy command posts, columns of equipment, air defense systems. The military personnel of the calculation of one of the complexes taking part in the special operation told about the use of Iskander in a combat situation.
"The car is worked out to the smallest detail. For all the time of performing combat missions, I have never failed. With an accuracy of up to two meters, it hits the target," said Vitaly, commander of the Iskander launch battery.
Iskander has two types of missiles - cruise and ballistic. The first one flies at low altitudes, can maneuver and bend around the terrain. The second soars into the stratosphere, moves along a clear trajectory and strikes a sudden blow. Both missiles hit with mathematical precision.
The coordinates of the targets come from various sources - data from drones, satellites, intelligence work. All information in the form of ciphers and keys to them are flocked to the headquarters of the missile brigade, and from here the data is sent via wired communication to the launcher for launching at newly identified important enemy targets.
"After each launch, we change positions, so it's hard for the enemy to figure us out," said Alexey, the senior mechanic-driver of Iskander.
