The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) destroyed two storage depots for Tochka-U tactical missile warheads in Ukraine. This was announced on April 19 by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
"Operational-tactical and army aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces attacked 60 military facilities of Ukraine. In the areas of the settlements of Chervonaya Polyana and Balakleya, two warehouses for the storage of Tochka-U tactical missile warheads were destroyed," he said at a briefing.
Also during the night, high-precision air-based missiles of the Russian Aerospace Forces suppressed 13 strongholds of units of Ukrainian troops, as well as places of concentration of enemy manpower and military equipment in the areas of three settlements.
"Three control points of the Ukrainian troops were hit, as well as 53 areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment of the enemy. Rocket troops and artillery have struck 1,260 military facilities," the general added.
Thus, 25 control points of Ukrainian units, two warehouses of rocket and artillery weapons, two Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile launchers, 1214 enemy manpower concentration sites were hit.
"Russian air defense means <...> shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter in the air. Two Ukrainian Tochka-U tactical missiles have been intercepted. Four Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed," Konashenkov said.
On April 17, the headquarters of the territorial defense of the Donetsk People's Republic reported that the air defense intercepted a Tochka U missile launched by Ukrainian troops.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov clarified, the goals of the special operation are also the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
