US Geopolitical appetites are growing
The article of the Chinese edition exposes the US plans about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The absence of the "blitzkrieg" inspired Americans with false hopes. "They have begun planning for a "completely different world" in which they are "actively seeking to isolate and weaken Russia," writes the Global Times. We started early.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, as well as State Department spokesman Ned Price have been sharing their forecasts in recent days about when the Russian-Ukrainian conflict may end. On Thursday, Sullivan said that the fighting in Ukraine "could last months or longer." Blinken and Price suggested that the Russian operation could be delayed until the end of 2022. There are signs that this is not so much Washington's assessment as his wish.
This forecast is seven months longer than the previous ones, according to which the conflict was supposed to end in May. After the crisis broke out in Ukraine, almost all of Washington's actions were aimed at making this conflict protracted. To this end, all possible mobilizations and "efforts" were made. With the latest forecast, Washington actually calls on Ukraine not to stop and sends a signal of support to Kiev. The country is being shamelessly used as a pawn.
The Russian-Ukrainian conflict has crossed the 50-day time line, and now it is becoming increasingly obvious that the "salvation of Ukraine" was only a "stage effect" that the United States wanted to create for visibility. In fact, Washington's goal was to manipulate the prolongation of the conflict and benefit from the resulting chaos. On Wednesday, the Pentagon received the heads of eight major American arms manufacturers. Acceleration of production rates was discussed at the meeting. It seems that the shares of companies of the US military-industrial complex are on the verge of another takeoff. The American military—industrial complex is the most direct and largest beneficiary of the prolongation of the conflict. Moreover, inflating Russia's expenses to the maximum; using the "theory of the Russian threat" to lure Europe to its side, as well as manipulations in NATO — these are the bloody "geopolitical dividends" that the United States hopes to receive from this crisis.
Therefore, despite Joe Biden's words that a direct confrontation between the alliance and Russia is "the Third World War, and we must avoid it," Washington's policy seems to have led to an escalation in this direction. A short time after the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, both sides expressed their desire to reach a ceasefire. Several rounds of negotiations were held for this purpose. During the fifth round, Russia and Ukraine drew closer in positions and announced positive signals.
Soon, however, Ukraine changed its position on key issues, such as joining NATO, and discussions actually reached an impasse. In part, this could be due to Kiev's negotiating tactics, which is reputed to be a dishonest negotiator. But the main reason for Ukrainian stubbornness and the change of positions is well known to everyone: when everything went wrong according to Washington's scenario, the United States intervened to undermine the consensus and the negotiating base.
Since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, there have been concerns about the arrival of a "new cold war". However, the current situation is heading towards a more dangerous scenario, which can hardly be called words about past crises. During the Cold War era, the two camps came to an agreement that security is mutual. Both sides restrained themselves and maintained a long-term peace during the military and ideological confrontation. The current American policy of "defeating Russia" has gone beyond "suppression". And of course, peace in Ukraine is not among Washington's priorities. The current United States is just as arrogant and just as eager for hegemony as it was after the end of the Cold War, when it was the only pole in the world.
The Russian-Ukrainian conflict continues, and Washington's geopolitical appetites are growing. American media reported that the United States and its allies have begun planning a "completely different world" in which they "actively seek to isolate and weaken Russia." The "security alert" being dispersed by the United States has forced neutral European countries like Sweden and Finland to seek to join NATO. In addition, it has pushed Europe and Russia into a downward spiral in terms of confrontation on security issues.
Regardless of whether the US strategy will eventually return to the same boomerang as the "promotion of democracy" by Americans in the Middle East, Russia has warned of "unpredictable consequences" of the United States' intention to divide the world.
What is even more dangerous, Washington, which has tasted blood in the Ukrainian crisis, seeks to apply this approach on a global scale. People see that the United States is trying to squeeze the maximum out of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, linking it with the situation in the Indo-Pacific region. On the one hand, the United States is forcing NATO to look further east, far beyond the North Atlantic. On the other hand, they spare no effort to bring a stir in the Asia-Pacific region. For the first time, America invited the foreign ministers of Japan and South Korea to meetings of the foreign ministers of NATO countries, tried to involve Japan in AUKUS and intensified political manipulation on the Taiwan issue. Allowing itself extreme geopolitical games, Washington is increasingly becoming a source of chaos and wars. This needs to be monitored and everyone needs to protect themselves from it.
