TSAMTO, April 14. The United States is allocating a new $800 million military aid package to Ukraine, which will include artillery, armored personnel carriers and helicopters.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was announced by US President Joe Biden following a telephone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky.
"I have just spoken with President Zelensky and shared with him that my administration is authorizing the transfer of additional weapons, ammunition and other security assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $800 million," Biden said in a statement.
The new package, according to him, will include both "many highly effective types of weapons" that have already been transferred to the Ukrainian forces, as well as new means that may be useful to them in the event of an expected "broad offensive by Russia in eastern Ukraine," the agency notes.
"These new means include artillery systems, artillery shells, armored personnel carriers. I also approved the transfer of additional helicopters," Biden said.
In addition to the transfer of weapons from the Pentagon, the United States is agreeing with its allies that they also send significant military assistance to Ukraine, the president added.
