The Defense Ministry said that 1,096 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered in Mariupol
The official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said on the morning of April 13 that more than a thousand Ukrainian marines had surrendered in Mariupol. There were wounded among them - they were treated on the spot, and then sent to the city hospital.

"In the city of Mariupol, in the area of the Ilyich Metallurgical Combine, as a result of successful offensive actions of the Russian armed forces and militia units of the Donetsk People's Republic, 1,026 Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade voluntarily laid down their arms and surrendered," Konashenkov said.
He specified that among the surrendered - 162 officers, as well as 47 female servicemen. In addition, 151 wounded Ukrainian servicemen were given primary medical care on the spot, after which they were sent to the Mariupol City hospital.
300 wounded
Prior to that, the capture of the Ukrainian military was reported by the correspondent of VGTRK Alexander Sladkov in his Telegram channel. He wrote that he was "watching the process" as the Marines surrendered to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the MGB of the DPR.
According to the correspondent, among the prisoners "300 wounded, 90 unable to move independently" people.
"There can be more than 800 healthy people. If everything ends according to plan, the defense arranged by the APU at the Ilyich Metallurgical Combine will fall," Sladkov wrote.

Soon, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov published information about the surrender of Ukrainians in his Telegram channel.
"More than a thousand Marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine surrendered today in Mariupol. There are hundreds of wounded among them. This is the right choice," he wrote.
According to him, "Ukrainian groups are breaking up daily one after another," the Armed Forces of Ukraine "do not know what to do with the wounded, do not understand where to turn and what to do next." The head of Chechnya believes that the Ukrainian "resistance is useless, and there are practically no combat forces left."
"There are only some small groups that for some reason are afraid to come out with a white flag to the Russian troops. Don't be afraid. Think about your relatives, the wounded, about your own and other people's lives, about how a stray bullet can bring tragedy into the house," Kadyrov urged.
The report says that "at the moment there are about two hundred wounded people in the bowels of Azovstal who cannot receive medical care." Kadyrov believes that "it would be better for them and everyone else to end this senseless confrontation and return home to their relatives."
"Your step today is a conscious choice to avoid unnecessary and senseless bloodshed. I appeal to those who are still holed up in the basements and tunnels of the combine: you know that we treat prisoners like human beings. Come out," wrote the head of Chechnya.
Fighting for Mariupol
The battles for Mariupol have been going on since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine. On March 7, the DPR forces reported crossing the city line. Fighting continues mainly in the area of "Azovstal", where, according to the information of the People's militia of the LPR, there are about three and a half thousand servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On April 11, the representative of the People's militia of the DPR Eduard Basurin said that, in his opinion, it makes no sense to storm the underground fortifications of the Azovstal plant.
"There are underground floors, so it makes no sense to take this object by storm. Because you can put a large number of your soldiers, and the enemy will not suffer losses as such. Therefore, at the moment it is necessary to deal with the blocking of this plant, find all the exits and entrances - in principle, it is possible to do this," Basurin said on Channel One.
The new mayor of the city Konstantin Ivashchenko, who was appointed by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, on April 7 reported losses among civilians in Mariupol - this is "about five thousand people." According to him, about 250 thousand people left the Ukrainian city during the military special operation of Russia. He also spoke about the destruction of 60-70% of the housing stock, about 10% of the buildings were completely destroyed.
Ukraine and Russia regularly coordinate humanitarian corridors through which civilians are evacuated either towards Kiev or towards territories controlled by the republics of Donbass and the Russian Federation.
