Slovak media reported that Slovakia handed over to Ukraine, as a military aid, its only division of the Soviet-made S-300PMU anti-aircraft missile system, which is already located on the territory of Ukraine. According to the published video, on April 5, 2022, an echelon with the equipment of this division was sent from the Slovak station Sereda to Ukraine.

The delivery of the S-300PMU system to Ukraine was confirmed by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger, who is currently in Kiev as part of the delegation of the European Commission, who stated: "Based on Ukraine's request for assistance in self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, as a direct result of armed aggression by the Russian Federation, the Slovak Republic donated the S-300 air defense system to Ukraine. This is a responsible decision by which the Slovak Republic, as a country that supports peace, freedom and the protection of human rights, provides assistance in the form of a purely defensive system to Ukraine and its innocent citizens, and we believe that this system will help save as many innocent Ukrainians as possible from further aggression by the Putin regime. The donation of the system does not mean that the Slovak Republic has become part of the armed conflict in Ukraine. I also assure you that the defense of the Slovak Republic is still secured and in the coming days will be strengthened by an additional missile defense system of our allies."
Currently, in connection with the conflict in Ukraine, NATO forces have deployed three Patriot air defense systems batteries from the German and Dutch Air Forces on the territory of Slovakia. The decision to transfer Slovakia's S-300PMU division to Ukraine was made in mid-March, but the Slovak side was negotiating with Western countries, trying to get as much compensation as possible for this.
Recall that Slovakia had one division of the S-300PMU air defense system (an export version of the S-300PS air defense system), received by the Czechoslovak Republic in 1989, but in 1993, after the collapse of Czechoslovakia, transferred to Slovakia under the division of military property. The division had four launchers.
