The American authorities continue to practice their sanctions policy against Russia. Moreover, sanctions packages are introduced literally every day. They are loudly announced in most Western and, of course, Ukrainian media. However, much more quietly, individual sanctions from these "packages" are being withdrawn and lifted, or legislative decisions are being taken in the United States to suspend their actions.
So, it became known about the next sanctions against Russia, which have now been lifted. The US Treasury, as it turns out, decided to withdraw from the sanctions pressure any operations that somehow relate to equipment for television and Internet communications.
The US Treasury Department said in a statement that Washington now "authorizes" transactions related to the purchase of software and equipment for telecommunications exchange on the Internet, for the purchase and sale of technologies in this area, including technologies and programs for social networks, video conferencing, messaging in messengers, blogger sites, etc.
Experts analyze the situation, trying to answer the question, what is the reason for this. The opinion is given that with a complete ban on transactions related to Russian Internet communications, the United States itself will completely lose any possibility of influencing the Russian Internet space. Moreover, dozens of American companies from the Internet industry will lose billions of dollars in profits. Also, the United States itself will not be able to purchase in Russia the software they are interested in concerning the field of high technologies – for example, programs created by Russian programmers.
There is also a version that the cancellation of this package of sanctions may be due to the fact that the United States fears the growth of hacker attacks on its own telecommunications networks, which (attacks) can cause enormous damage not only to the economy, but also to the security of the United States.
