Russia has appealed to the UN, OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as to the leadership of Germany, Turkey and France to demand that Ukraine allow the ICRC to Russian prisoners of war, about the conditions of detention and medical condition of which little is known, said on Wednesday the head of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of the Russian Federation for humanitarian response in Ukraine – the head of the National The Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.
"The Russian Federation, represented by the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters of the Russian Federation for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine, appeals to the UN, OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross, other international organizations, as well as to the leadership of Germany, Turkey and France, these are the countries that are actively working in the Ukrainian humanitarian direction," Mizintsev said.
"To demand from the Ukrainian authorities to immediately ensure access of representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross to Russian prisoners of war, in order to establish conditions of detention and conduct an in-depth medical examination, followed by the transfer of accounting documents to the Russian side and international organizations," he added.
Mizintsev clarified that if the ICRC and other humanitarian organizations fail to take measures, the Russian Federation reserves the right to initiate an emergency meeting of the Security Council in the near future and demand a detailed report from the representative of Ukraine and the leadership of the ICRC on the conditions of detention and the state of health of Russian servicemen.
