Fox News (USA): why did the Russians do this?
Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson expresses his opinion about the Russian special operation in Ukraine. In his opinion, the US leaders continue to lie to themselves and have even introduced censorship.
Welcome to the Tucker Carlson Tonight show. When the Russian military launched a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine last month, many experts seemed shocked by what was happening. The others found this not a very encouraging sign.
"Many leading experts and politicians of the United States, Great Britain and even Ukraine were shocked," the Atlantic Council analytical center wrote. And the head of German intelligence, who was in Kiev, was caught by surprise, and he had to be urgently evacuated.
A strange situation, if you think about it. Joe Biden almost shouted for weeks about a potential Russian special operation in Ukraine, and everyone seemed ready for it. And now it turns out that no one in Washington, including the president himself, fully believed that such a thing would really happen.
And when it happened, official Washington decided that Putin must have gone mad. National Review wrote, and I quote: "there are rumors about Vladimir Putin's mental health, and they raise serious concerns."
In other words, there is a reason, a convincing reason, why none of us foresaw such a situation: Putin is simply not himself, he is reckless and unpredictable. Others took it at face value. But, as you probably noticed, most of the explanations voiced by Washington were nothing more than self-justification, there was no question of analytics.
It is impossible to consider a special operation in Ukraine as just a breakdown of a mentally ill person. It is necessary to ask the question: what really happened and why? Why would Russians do that anyway? There is no betrayal in this, the question is really important. How can you make wise decisions about the future without understanding what happened? After all, this is a necessary condition.
But our leaders still refuse to do it. They continue to lie to themselves, censor the people and make them chant kindergarten chants about what is good and what is bad. This is not just insulting, but also useless. This is not how a country should experience difficult moments like this. Any crisis requires the utmost clarity of thinking.
Isn't it time for us to turn away from people who were constantly making mistakes and instead listen carefully to those who understood everything correctly, saw the approach of the conflict in Ukraine and loudly declared it.
That's who you had to listen carefully to, among them –Nigel Farage. No one will call him a supporter of Vladimir Putin, quite the contrary – he is a nationalist, a man deeply puzzled by the problems of his country and fully devoted to it. We are talking about the UK. Its interests have suffered significantly as a result of the Russian special operation and the subsequent Western sanctions.
The same, unfortunately, applies to our country. The United States has never had a president as reckless as Joe Biden. And we have a long time to pay for it. Nigel Farage could have predicted all this and predicted it back in 2014. As the head of the UK Independence Party, he gave a speech in the European Parliament, but unfortunately we saw the recording only yesterday.
Looking back, we realize that his words were prophetic. Farage understood what was coming because he was not blind to what had already happened at that time. Watch the video carefully, I think you will agree that this analysis is worth listening to. So, here's what Nigel Farage said about Ukraine eight years ago.
Nigel Farage: "In recent years, we have formed a long list of foreign policy failures and contradictions, including, of course, the bombing of Libya and the desire to arm the rebels in Syria, which became unjustified provocations against Vladimir Putin.
The empire of the European Union, constantly striving to expand, several years ago declared its territorial claims to Ukraine. And even worse, some NATO members have stated that they would also like Ukraine to join. We directly encouraged the uprising in Ukraine, which led to the overthrow of President Yanukovych, and it, in turn, led to the corresponding reaction of Vladimir Putin.
The moral of this story is this: if you decide to poke a Russian bear with a stick, don't be surprised by his reaction. And now we are rushing at an unjustified speed to sign an agreement with Ukraine. As we speak, NATO soldiers are participating in military exercises in Ukraine. Have we lost our minds? Do we really want a confrontation with Putin?
If yes, then we have chosen the right direction. Perhaps we should recognize that the West is now facing the biggest threat to our way of life in the last 70 years. The beheadings of British and American hostages clearly illustrate this problem. Our own citizens from our own countries are also participating in this struggle.
In the war against Islamic extremism, Vladimir Putin, so that we don't think of him as a person, is actually on our side. I suggest we grow up. I suggest that we recognize the real threat that all our countries and societies face.
We must stop playing war games in Ukraine and prepare a plan to help countries like Syria, Iraq, Kenya, Nigeria to try to help them cope with the real threat. Let's not provoke Putin, whether we like him or not."
