The Master of Sports of Russia, Sergeant of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vlada Krivenko is recognized as the absolute world champion according to CISM 2021. The girl is the champion of the championship of Russia in 2021 and the Airborne troops. She is serving in the 309th Special Parachute Training Center in Ryazan.
It is noted that among the eight candidates for the title of the best athlete of the year, four represented the Armed Forces of Russia. On the official website of the International Council of Military Sports, voting for the title of the best athlete and athlete of 2021 went on for two months. The winners of the online voting (one man and one woman) automatically qualified for the final stage.
At the second stage, the presidents of the CISM sports Committees by sports by online voting, which ended on March 20, 2022, selected two more nominees among men and two among women.
The winners of the "Best Athlete of CISM 2021" award were determined in Austria at the CISM Board of Directors by secret ballot of 19 members of this governing body. It includes representatives of Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Guinea, Germany, Greece, Zimbabwe, Spain, Canada, China, Nigeria, Republic of Korea, Russia, Rwanda, Syria, USA, France and Sweden. According to the results of the voting, the Russian parachutist was recognized as the best athlete of the year. Krivenko's rivals were Russians, as well as athletes from Austria, France, Hungary and Italy.
Among men, Eduardo Carrillo Martinez-Osorio (aviation pentathlon) from Spain won the best by a large margin.
The awarding of the laureates will take place at the 77th General Assembly of CISM, scheduled from May 1-9 in Peru.
The Defense Ministry said that representatives of Ukraine, as members of CISM, tried to influence the work of the council. This also concerned attempts to exclude our athletes from the number of award nominees, and the deprivation of our country's right to host the III World Cadet Games in August 2022. But the largest sports organization in the world after the International Olympic Committee and the International University Sports Federation did not succumb to the provocations of one of its members.

The honorary award to the best CISM athletes is awarded separately in the nominations among men and women in order to recognize the most significant sporting results shown at CISM competitions in the past year, as well as contribution to the promotion of CISM values, fair play, discipline and respect for the rules. Athletes are nominated for the award on the proposal of the Presidents of the CISM Sports Committees by sports and must be on active military service and take part in the CISM World Championships and the World War Games.
