Politics (Serbia): The "American World" is a thing of the past
The Russian military special operation in Ukraine has shaken up the United States, writes Politika. The first big crack has gone according to Washington's plan to push back the Eurasian giant by military means. The United States and its NATO allies were too quick to take root on the Russian borders. Everything is going to the fact that American dominance will end in Ukraine.
The Russian military special operation in Ukraine has shaken up the United States of America quite well. The first big crack has gone according to Washington's plan to push back the Eurasian giant by military means. The United States began to implement it back in the 90s of the last century immediately after the collapse of the Warsaw Pact, and then the Soviet Union. However, as it turned out, the United States and NATO allies were too quick to take root on the Russian borders. They started in the Balkans, continued in Georgia, then recently made an attempt in Kazakhstan, and will most likely finish in Ukraine.
Let me remind you that after the end of World War II, the United States, as one of the victorious countries, took almost the entire Western world under its "wing", creating Pax Americana (from Latin. "The American World"). This term means complete American dominance in the industrial, military and social spheres and was introduced by analogy with other historical situations: Pax Romana (from the end of the I century BC to the end of the II century) and Pax Britannica (1815-1914, the period of domination of the British Empire).
During the period of American supremacy, there were no wars between Western countries. Instead, militaristic frustration was treated in South America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, committing direct aggression, inciting local civil conflicts, in which the powers that be then intervened as an inviolable arbiter. Of course, with great benefit for yourself.
But they wanted more. The United States sought global dominance and control over all the world's wealth. The conditions for this were created at a time when the world was covered by the media network, when Internet access became as important as three meals a day, and maybe even more important. Information, and with it disinformation, has turned into a weapon more deadly than nuclear. Moreover, there is no control over it.
In this, the US was ahead of everyone again. An atmosphere was created in which the truth came from only one center — from Washington. Everything else was not only called into question, but also directly declared a lie, whatever the evidence. Many things had to be hushed up or hidden. Let's just remember, for example, the downed American "invisible" plane during the aggression against Serbia, about which America was allowed to speak only "in a low voice" for a long time.
Today we are witnessing a "special informational interpretation" of the war in Ukraine, the course of its events, the scale and consequences of hostilities. One truth comes from the battlefields, and the other from numerous analysts sitting in television studios. In general, it seems that no one is interested in the fate of Ukrainians who survive explosions every day. More importantly, what experts and "experts" think about all this. The same situation is in print.
What is especially characteristic is that the vocabulary they use in such analyses is anything but academic. With a clear lack of real trump cards, they prefer to mold the most unsightly labels on the participants of this terrible war. Unfortunately, authoritative politicians and top officials of some states are doing this without hesitation. The information hysteria that we faced in Serbia during the NATO aggression has gained even greater scope in the case of Ukraine.
Many see the reasons for this in the fact that the Ukrainian drama is a clear reminder to all those who until now were sure that they would be taken care of in any military alliance where they joined voluntarily or against their will. Germany's decision to strengthen its armed forces independently reminded many of the not so long ago past. Unity on the Old Continent is being destroyed.
There is no doubt that the drama in eastern Europe would have entered a more dangerous phase if everything depended only on Washington. However, in Brussels, at NATO headquarters, there is no agreement on how to counteract Russia. This causes excitement and even fear. Key decisions are delayed by sanctions, mainly directed against individuals and some government officials. As if they are waiting for some ill-considered step by Moscow to finally respond with weapons.
Meanwhile, prominent Russians from the art world, athletes, and businessmen were persecuted… Also, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the man who was the first to go into space on April 12, 1961, recently appeared under the blow of American saints. He was simply stripped of all honors. The next step, probably, is the inclusion in American textbooks of "data" that the American John Glenn was the first to visit space.
The "American world" is undoubtedly a thing of the past. The modern world does not accept the only truth, no matter what center it comes from. Striving for the closest possible economic cooperation, the major world players seem to be retreating into themselves more and more. Distrust of the common enemy resulted in distrust of the closest strategic partners. The wars in this world are not over yet.
