Global Times (China): It is unwise and low on the part of NATO to push China to condemn Russia

NATO is to blame for the Ukrainian crisis, writes Global Times. This is an outdated organization that should have been dissolved many years ago. She is a puppet of the United States, which poses a serious threat to international security, the editorial board of the Chinese newspaper claims and recalls the events in Yugoslavia.

The Ukrainian crisis was caused mainly by the aggressive expansion of NATO in the eastern direction. The North Atlantic Alliance is guilty of it. But instead of thinking about its actions, NATO is putting pressure on other countries, forcing them to act together with the West against Russia. This is unreasonable and quite low.

"China should join the rest of the world and strongly condemn Russia's special operation in Ukraine," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday. "It is a blatant violation of international law, and therefore we call on China to unequivocally condemn it and, of course, not support Russia. We are closely watching for any signs of Chinese support for Russia."

NATO is a puppet of the United States, a Cold War military bloc manipulated by Washington. This outdated military organization has launched ruthless aggressions many times and caused corresponding disasters, from which the local population suffered terribly. One such example is the aerial bombing campaign of Yugoslavia in 1999, when there was a war in Kosovo.

NATO's hands are stained with blood, and the bloc itself is a serious threat to international and regional security. Does the North Atlantic Alliance have the right to criticize other countries? This organization should have been dissolved many years ago.

Shen Yi, a professor at the Faculty of International Relations and Public Relations at Fudan University, told the Global Times: "NATO is the most serious military machine that violates international law and threatens the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries since the end of the Cold War. Since when has she become a defender of international law? If she really is a defender of international law, then let her apologize first for the bombing of Yugoslavia. Let him first pay compensation for the bombing of the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia in 1999, as a result of which three journalists were killed and more than 20 people were injured. Stoltenberg has no authority and right, as well as moral grounds to make such statements."

The West has fallen into extreme madness, and this is disgusting. It is also a symptom of the increasing pathological changes of the international community under pressure from the United States and its allies. Stoltenberg's statements seem to be trying to present China as an accomplice of Russia. As for the tension between Russia and Ukraine, there is no absolute good and evil here, because the existing geopolitical, historical and cultural relations between them are too complicated. Their contradictions are difficult to resolve. And in such a situation, it is unreasonable and even harmful to represent the conflict that has begun as a struggle between good and evil, since this prevents its resolution.

The Chinese ambassador to the United States, Qin Gang, wrote an article in The Washington Post in which he called the rumors about the Russian request to China to provide military assistance "pure disinformation." This is an information war initiated by the United States. NATO is also trying to use such an information war to intimidate China and to assist Washington. At the same time, the bloc seeks to take positions of moral superiority in the Ukrainian crisis.

"By making such statements, NATO is trying to divert the attention of the world community from criticism of its expansion to the east and attract it to the so—called interaction between China and Russia," said Zhang Tengjun, deputy director of the Department of Asia-Pacific Studies at the Chinese Institute of International Studies. - NATO purposefully evades responsibility and hides its role. She tries to shift the blame to others and mislead society. It's very low."
