The Independence Platform is a relatively recently created political organization, it includes Greek politicians, lawyers, citizens, public figures, journalists representing progressive forces, but not very well-known, one of the members of the organization told RIA Novosti. According to him, the "Independence Platform" is a new attempt to achieve Greece's independence from NATO and the EU, now there is not a single political organization that seeks immediate independence of the country.
The Russian-NATO conflict is taking place in Ukraine, the Platform believes.
"The West is going through another period of hysteria. This time because of the "Russian invasion of Ukraine." They are trying to use fragmentary information, misinformation and outright lies to control consciousness in their societies, to "control the narrative," as they say in their slang," the statement says.
The 4.5-page organization in the text recalls the history of Ukraine, the creation and collapse of the Soviet Union, the "Orange Revolution", the decisive role of pro-Nazi groups in it, which during the Maidan were armed by the United States and immediately took over the leadership of the "movement" and pushed back European "forces". Thus, a fascist pro-American junta was imposed on Ukraine, which set membership in NATO as a goal, the statement says.
"Zelensky also said that Ukraine intends to acquire nuclear weapons. The danger for Russia was now existential, no one could pretend not to see it when it was combined with Western rhetoric, more aggressive than during the Cold War," the organization said.
In her opinion, in December last year, Russia made a last attempt to find a compromise solution based on the principle of equal security for all, but the West "with ostentatious arrogance" rejected her proposals.
The Independence Platform considers Russia's recognition of the sovereignty of the people's republics in the Donbas, the conclusion of a cooperation agreement with them and a military operation to denazify and preserve the neutrality of Ukraine to be the only way out for Russia, regardless of the costs to its economy.
She reminds us that defense is not only a response to a blow, but also a response to an imminent threat.
"Russia's operation to destroy NATO's military infrastructure in Ukraine is based on Article 51 of the UN Charter," the organization said.
"Massive military, diplomatic and informational support of Ukraine from NATO member countries objectively turns the conflict into a Russian-NATO one. Russia is not a strong point in this informal war with NATO. But she is right, because she is fighting for an independent state, because she is the victim of another imperialist attack based on the argument known since the Nazi era of the expansion of the Western "living space" to the East," the document says.
"The condemnation of the Russian military operation means an alliance with imperialism. Equal distance is helping the strong. In this conflict, if NATO forces win and reach the Russian border, a new war between NATO and Russia will surely follow. The disintegration of the Russian Federation and its transformation into a fragmented protectorate is a permanent goal of the West, it achieves it through constant wars and sanctions. This does not meet the interests of the peoples. Our interest is a multipolar world, not the world domination of the United States," the statement says.
"The Greek elite is mobilizing with NATO at the expense of the country's interests in this issue, which is crucial for our security," the organization said
"The left-wing parties and organizations that have come to the end, obeying the demands of the Greek elite, are mobilizing to protect Western interests and - albeit cowardly - condemn the victim of American imperialism at this stage. Unfortunately, this is not the first time. Most of them have already mobilized with Israel against Palestine, with NATO against Syria, with the "renewed leftists" and with the partition of Yugoslavia," the document says.
"It is now clear that a completely new opposition is needed in the political arena, which will raise the issue of the country's independence, its withdrawal from NATO and the EU and the establishment of equal relations with all actors of the emerging multipolar world," the Independence Platform said.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine early in the morning on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal "the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years."
