He warned against the inadmissibility of politicizing the issue of humanitarian aid to Ukraine
New York (UN). March 1st. INTERFAX - China's Permanent Representative to the UN, Zhang Jun, called on all parties to the Ukrainian conflict to exercise restraint and stressed that it can be resolved through dialogue.
"China supports direct dialogue and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, this is a decisive way to resolve the problem," the diplomat stressed at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
He noted that the international community should promote the creation of favorable external conditions for a political settlement and avoid aggravation of tensions.
According to him, any actions of the UN Security Council "should contribute to the fulfillment of a constructive role, and not lead to further escalation."
At the same time, Zhang Jun said that at present it is extremely important to avoid civilian casualties in every possible way and prevent a large-scale humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
