The representative of the German Foreign Ministry, Andrea Sasse, said that the first German armored vehicles as part of the defense assistance package were successfully transferred to Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.
"A small remark that gives hope. I can inform you that, for example, armored vehicles are ready for transfer to Ukraine. Some of them or some of them were handed over to Ukraine this morning," Zasse said.
Earlier, Berlin stated that the first arms deliveries to Ukraine will start on Monday, February 28.
Germany's shipment of weapons to Ukraine became known on February 26, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced his intention to supply the Ukrainian authorities with 1,000 units of anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles.
Before that, Germany sent only five thousand helmets to the Ukrainian army.
The German Defense Minister also expressed concern about the change in the regime of the Russian deterrence forces.
