New York (UN). February 28. INTERFAX - All allegations about Russian bombing of hospitals and schools in Ukraine are fake and lies, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia said on Sunday.
"It is the houses destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and nationalists in the Donbas that the Western media now most often shamelessly pass off as the consequences of our military operation in Ukraine. And today, at this meeting, we again hear lies and fakes about the indiscriminate bombing of Ukrainian cities, hospitals and schools," he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
Nebenzia noted that the Russian army "does not threaten the civilians of Ukraine, does not fire at peaceful objects."
"The threat to them is posed by Ukrainian nationalists who have actually taken Ukrainian residents hostage, hiding behind them as a human shield," Nebenzia continued.
"There is a lot of evidence spread by ordinary Ukrainians that nationalists, despite their protests, place heavy equipment, multiple launch rocket systems in residential areas. This is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which should receive due condemnation," the Russian ambassador said.
According to him, "this is the same tactic used by ISIS terrorists (banned in the Russian Federation -IF)."
