Washington. February 27. INTERFAX - White House spokesperson Jen Psaki claims that NATO and Ukraine do not pose a threat to Russia.
"In no way was Russia under threat from NATO, it was not under threat from Ukraine," she told ABC television on Sunday.
ABC clarifies that this is how Psaki commented on the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to transfer the deterrence forces of the Russian army to a special combat duty regime.
She also announced the readiness of the United States to send more humanitarian, economic and military assistance to Ukraine.
In response to a question about the readiness of the United States to take measures against the Russian energy sector, Psaki assured that all such options for action "are on the agenda."
Earlier on Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov, said that "senior officials of the leading NATO countries allow aggressive statements against our country, therefore I order the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff to transfer the deterrence forces of the Russian army to a special mode of combat duty."
"There is," Shoigu said in response.
