Tashkent. February 26. INTERFAX - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev hopes for an early settlement of the situation in Ukraine, the country takes a neutral position on this situation, Deputy head of the administration, press secretary of the Uzbek leader Sherzod Asadov said on Saturday.
In his Telegram channel, Asadov recalled that on the eve of a telephone conversation between the presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia, Vladimir Putin informed Mirziyoyev about the reasons and circumstances of the decision on a special operation.
"In turn, the leader of Uzbekistan expressed hope for the parties to find mutually acceptable ways to resolve the situation as soon as possible and prevent its further escalation. I would like to emphasize that Uzbekistan takes a balanced, neutral position on this issue," Asadov said.
He stressed that Uzbekistan traditionally has close, friendly relations with both Russia and Ukraine.
