Rogozin said that sanctions on the supply of electronics are burdensome for Roscosmos
Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin, in an interview with the Russian Cosmos magazine, spoke about the impact of Western sanctions on the state corporation.
According to him, the sanctions regime was one of the reasons for postponing the launches of a number of Russian satellites in 2021. "Our industry is still dependent on imported components, which has become a burdensome burden against the background of the most severe sanctions against Russia. This is especially true for microelectronics of the Space category," the manager said.
Rogozin clarified that in order to reduce dependence, the state corporation "formed a portfolio of orders for domestic microelectronics enterprises for priority components several years ago."
"These enterprises are outside the Roscosmos circuit (specifically, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia). However, in order to switch to an import-independent electronic component base, designers have to redesign individual spacecraft systems," the head of Roscosmos added.
Rogozin noted that the state corporation has started "using universal technological and circuit solutions", when, for example, instead of choosing "up to nine different onboard computers", "two or three universal computers" are involved.
Earlier, the general director of Roscosmos announced that the state corporation would suspend cooperation with Europe on launching Soyuz-2 missiles from Kuru. At the same time, Rogozin called it impossible to continue cooperation with the United States on the Russian Venus-D project.
In February, the United States and the European Union imposed sanctions against Russia because of a special operation in the Donbass.
