He said that an anti-aircraft missile of the Ukrainian Buk-M1 complex hit the building
MOSCOW, February 26. /tass/. Reports of a Russian missile strike on a residential building in Kiev do not correspond to reality, it was hit by an anti-aircraft missile of the Ukrainian Buk-M1 complex, a source in the Russian Defense Ministry told TASS on Saturday.
"The information spread on social networks about the Russian missile strike on a residential building on Lobanovsky Avenue in Kiev does not correspond to reality. The nature of the damage to the house indicates that an anti-aircraft missile hit it. This is clearly visible on the video," the agency interlocutor said.
"It is obvious that during the reflection of the night rocket attack on military infrastructure facilities <...> of Ukraine, there was a failure in the guidance system of the Buk-M1 medium-range missile missile system, and the missile touched the corner of a residential building," the source added.
According to him, after the loss of the Gostomel airfield, the Ukrainian military on Friday transferred three launchers of the Buk-M1 complex to strengthen the cover of the Zhuliany airport.
"The reason for the failure of the Ukrainian Buk-M1 missile system is most likely the lack of the necessary routine maintenance and the objective aging of equipment that has been in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine since Soviet times," the agency interlocutor concluded.
