Moscow. February 24. INTERFAX - The United States has notified Russia that it does not intend to engage in the negotiation process on security guarantees, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"We did everything to have negotiations. Yesterday, the Americans closed these negotiations, refusing further discussions through diplomatic channels on global security issues and the situation around Ukraine," she said on Channel One.
She recalled that talks between the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation and the United States Sergey Lavrov and Anthony Blinken were planned for Thursday in Geneva.
She said that a few hours before departure, the US State Department sent Blinken's official appeal via diplomatic channels, according to which the Americans no longer intend to engage in the negotiation process on the designated issues.
Zakharova also recalled that the French side refused from the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation and France scheduled for February 25 in Paris.
