The actions of those who seized power in Ukraine as a result of the 2014 coup d'etat and adopted the ideology and practice of neo-Nazism pose a serious military threat to Russia as well. This is stated in the appeal of the National Association of Associations of Reserve Officers of the Armed Forces (MEGAPIR) in connection with the conduct by the Russian Armed Forces of a special operation to protect the population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
It notes that Russia launched the operation in response to the appeal of the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics. The troops came to the defense of the long-suffering population of Donbass, including Russian citizens, who for eight years were subjected to continuous armed attacks by the nationalist regime of Ukraine.
The report says that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are conducting an operation to save people's lives in accordance with international law. "Its goal is to force the aggressor to peace. This is how Russia defended Abkhazia and North Ossetia, and today our Armed Forces, together with the People's Militia of the republics, protect the elderly, women and children from genocide," the document says.
It says that the special operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is of a peacekeeping nature. The main task is to deprive the militaristic regime of the opportunity to kill civilians in Donbass, as well as the opportunity to attack the Russian Crimea and threaten the integrity of Russia, relying on NATO's policy of pumping Ukraine with deadly weapons and increasing threats to the national security of our country.
This operation is not directed against civilians and is carried out in accordance with the UN Charter. The Charter provides for the inalienable right to self-defense not only of Russia as a member of the UN, but also of its allies - the DPR and the LPR.
"We, reserve and retired officers, support the decision of the President of the Russian Federation, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin and are confident that the soldiers and officers of our army will honorably fulfill their military duty to protect the national interests of Russia," emphasizes the appeal, which was signed by the chairman of the Board of Directors of MEGAPIR, Reserve Major General Vladimir Bogatyrev.
