Lukashenko informed about the study of the issue of equipping the military with Russian S-400 Triumph air defense systems
Belarus plans to buy new planes and equip the military with Russian S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs). This was announced by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a solemn meeting on Tuesday dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces, reports TASS .
"Over the next few years, we plan to purchase and supply to the troops a wide range of the most modern weapons, including Su-30SM aircraft, dozens of helicopters, Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems," he said.
According to Lukashenko, the issue of equipping the Belarusian armed forces with S-400 complexes is currently being worked out.
In February, Russian pilots on the Su-35S and their Belarusian counterparts on the Su-30SM conducted a training battle. The pilots alternately imitated the actions of the enemy at low altitudes.
Earlier in the same month, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian S-400s had arrived in Belarus. Calculations of the anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Eastern Military District took up combat duty as part of the verification of the reaction forces of the Union State.
