Moscow. February 22. INTERFAX - The Federation Council has agreed to use the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation outside the territory of the Russian Federation in connection with the situation around Donbass.
The vote on the issue took place at the evening part of the meeting of the Upper chamber of the Russian Federation in connection with the receipt of the President's appeal to the SF with a request to consent to the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation outside Russia. The decision was made unanimously.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Pankov said at the meeting that this is due to the fact that the situation in Donbass is escalating and Russia must take residents under its protection.
