Johnson will hold a meeting of the government's emergency committee on the situation around on Tuesday morning - the Prime Minister's office
London. February 22. INTERFAX - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, promised to consider the possibility of increasing military assistance to Ukraine, the Prime minister's office said.
"The Prime Minister (...) He stated that he would consider the possibility of sending further defensive assistance to Ukraine at the request of the Ukrainian government," the statement said.
Johnson expressed "serious concern" about events in the region, and told Zelensky that, in his opinion, "an invasion is a real possibility in the coming hours and days."
At the same time, the report notes that the parties agree that "the West should support Ukraine in the event of an invasion, but should continue to seek a diplomatic solution until the last possible second."
The Prime Minister condemned the recognition of the DPR and the LPR, saying that "this step made the Minsk agreements and the process unworkable." He added that the UK is "already cooperating with partners on this issue," and London will raise it in the UN Security Council and the OSCE.
He told Zelensky that the UK "has already developed sanctions against those involved in the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and that these measures will come into force tomorrow (Tuesday)."
