Russian military and border guards stopped the violation of the state border of the Russian Federation by a sabotage and reconnaissance group from the territory of Ukraine. This was announced on Monday, February 21, by the press service of the Southern Military District.
"On February 21, 2022, at about 6 am (Moscow time) in the area of the settlement of Mityakinskaya, Rostov region, on the section of the state border of the Russian Federation with the Republic of Ukraine, a border patrol of the FSB of Russia detected the penetration of a sabotage and reconnaissance group," the message says.
It is noted that two APU combat vehicles and five saboteurs penetrated into the territory of Russia.
"A unit of the Russian armed forces that promptly arrived at the place of the clash with fire from anti-tank weapons, both infantry fighting vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed. As a result of the clash, 5 violators of the border of the Russian Federation from the sabotage and reconnaissance group were destroyed," the ministry added.
There are no casualties among the Russian security forces, the ministry said.
On February 21, the FSB of Russia reported that a Ukrainian shell hit a border guard post in the Rostov region. The building was completely destroyed. It was noted that the border checkpoint was located at a distance of about 150 meters from the Russian-Ukrainian border. As a result of the incident, no one was injured.
In addition, on February 21, it became known that Ukrainian security forces fired 14 shells, prohibited by the Minsk agreements, at the settlement of Kominternovo in the Donbass. The LPR representative office in the JCCC also reported 16 violations of the ceasefire regime by Ukrainian security forces.
The head of the DPR Denis Pushilin on Monday said that over the past few days, the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have significantly intensified and brought the situation in the region to a critical state. According to him, the fighting is taking place near the borders with Russia.
In recent days, the situation on the resistance line in Donbass has significantly worsened. The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics reported intense shelling by Ukrainian security forces, including from heavy weapons. General mobilization and evacuation of civilians in the Russian Federation have been announced. The Russian side continues to emphasize that de-escalation in Donbass does not depend on its actions.
