Moscow. February 17. INTERFAX-AVN - The Kremlin is concerned about the aggravation of the situation in Donbass and recalled that it had long warned about the danger of excessive concentration of the Ukrainian military on the demarcation line.
"This is a matter of very, very deep concern. We have repeatedly warned that the excessive concentration of the armed forces of Ukraine in the immediate vicinity of the demarcation line, coupled with possible provocations, can pose a terrible danger," Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, told reporters.
"Now we see that these provocations are going on, we see reports from representatives of the self-proclaimed republics that there is an exchange of blows on the contact line, and that the first blows came from Ukraine. This is alarming information, we continue to observe closely," the Kremlin representative continued.
The Kremlin does not plan contacts with Kiev in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the Donbas, Peskov said. "There are no plans for negotiations with Kiev," he told reporters, answering a question.
Peskov was also asked what steps the Kremlin intends to take in connection with the current situation. "In this case, we are closely watching... We will see how the situation develops," he replied.
