As promised a day earlier, on Wednesday, February 16, Russian units of troops engaged in tactical exercises in the Crimea continued to withdraw from the territory of our peninsula. "An echelon with military equipment of the units of the Southern Military District crossed the Crimean Bridge by rail and proceeded to the points of permanent deployment," the military department reported.
Tracked armored vehicles - tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery installations - were previously loaded onto railway platforms. "Upon arrival at the unit, the military equipment will be serviced and prepared for the next stage of combat training," the military noted.
The rear guards also began to return: they come to the place of the exercise first, and they leave last, because they have to provide military personnel, weapons and equipment with everything necessary during maneuvers. The logistics Support Units (MTO) provided food for military personnel, if necessary, carried out repairs of military equipment, delivered ammunition to the units involved in the exercises.
The MTO units from the Crimea on regular equipment were decreasing. At the same time, part of the route of the automobile column (with a length of over 500 km) passes along the section of the Tavrida highway through the Kerch Strait on the Crimean Bridge. "On the route of the column, the work of the posts of the road commandant service is organized. And the escort of convoys is provided by the crews of the VAI," the Defense Ministry said.
The servicemen of the tank army units of the Western Military District continued their way to their native barracks yesterday. They completed loading tanks and armored tracked vehicles onto railway platforms, after which they marched to their garrisons. They will have to overcome a distance of about one thousand kilometers in a combined way (on freight trains, on autopatforms and on their own - on standard equipment). The military personnel who are involved in the ongoing exercises, including on the territory of Belarus, will also return to their units. On Wednesday, February 16, the Foreign Minister of this republic Vladimir Makei confirmed that after the end of the maneuvers "Allied Resolve-2022" all Russian units will leave Belarus. According to him, not a single serviceman and not a single unit of military equipment will remain.
