Washington. February 16. INTERFAX - State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Wednesday that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday informed US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken about Moscow's sending a response to Washington within a couple of days to American proposals on security in Europe.
"When the Secretary of State and his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Lavrov, had a conversation yesterday, Lavrov said that a response (to the security proposals) would be received within a couple of days," Price said at a briefing.
"We are waiting for it, we will read it very carefully, we hope to see constructive feedback in it. We hope that Russia is true to its word that it intends to participate in dialogue and diplomacy for a peaceful resolution (of the Ukrainian crisis)," the State Department representative stressed.
The day before, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation. According to the State Department statement following the conversation, Blinken pointed to Lavrov's statements that Russia's response to the US and NATO proposals on security in Europe submitted in January will arrive "in the coming days."
Also on the eve of Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow that Russia will soon publish its response to the reaction of the United States and NATO on the proposals on security guarantees.
In recent weeks, the United States, other NATO countries and Kiev have repeatedly stated about the concentration of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine and the threat of a "Russian invasion". Russia has consistently denied these allegations.
